Emergency 30-Minute Tidy

Why this works (and keeps you sane)

Last-minute drop-ins are part of the season. When my brain starts racing—excited and a little anxious—I stop and reset. This tidy is about first impressions and guest comfort, not perfection. We touch the spots people see and use first, then let the cozy do the rest.

Tools: one trash bag + one laundry basket, a microfiber cloth, glass spray, hand soap refill, and a lighter/matches.

The Triage Order (follow in this sequence)

Entry: lamp on, scent on, clear surface, shake doormat.
Surfaces: coffee/side/dining tables → visible counters.
Kitchen sink: load/stack, quick rinse, fresh towel.
Guest bath: mirror swipe, toilet quick wipe, fresh hand towel, soap topped.
Living zone: throws folded, pillows fluffed, remotes/chargers corralled.
Floors (front path): quick sweep/vac path guests will walk.

Good enough is gorgeous. We’re setting a mood, not doing spring cleaning.

Your 30 Minutes, Broken Down

0–10 · First Impression

Entry lamp + scent on; clear tray, shake mat, shoes lined.
Trash-bag run lap #1; basket toss to hide clutter.
Wipe coffee/side table; put remotes + chargers in a bowl.

10–20 · Guest-Use Zones

Kitchen sink: load → rinse → fresh towel; clear visible counter edges.
Guest bath: mirror swipe, toilet spot wipe, fresh towel, soap topped, tea light.

20–30 · Cozy Finish

Throws folded; pillows fluffed; quick floor pass along guest path.
Lights: overheads off, lamps on; candle optional.
Water carafe + glasses out if you have them.

Doorbell Drill (60 seconds)

Take out the tied trash bag.
Wash hands, a dab of lotion, breathe.
Music at a friendly volume. Smile. You did it. ✨
